I want to move my hosting but I am happy with my previous hosting provider with the emails that they are providing. Can I leave my email accounts with my previous hosting provider?

Answer: The answer is, it depends on whether we are talking here of email accounts that are linked to your domain, or about email accounts that are provided as part of your ISP services.

Sometimes people take out an ISP package and a hosting package at the same time, or with the same service provider.

These are actually two different services, but both can provide you with an email address. For example, your ISP (for example Telkom, Mweb, @lantic etc) can provide you with an email address such as yourusername@telkomsa.net, or similar.

However, your hosting account will probably provide you with an email linked to your domain name, for example yourname@yourdomain.co.za

This last type of email address cannot exist independently of your hosting account, so if your hosting account moves, so do these email addresses.
